FAQ

1. There are two USB ports, one on the camera and the other on the suction cup mount, which one should I use to connect to the car charger?

With the mount connected to the camera successfully, both ports will function.

2. The camera won’t respond at whichever key I press except for the Power button.

Check if the camera is in video recording. If yes, press Confirm button to stop it first.

3. Does the screen turn off automatically?

The default setting for the screen off is 3 mins, you can also adjust this time to 1 Mins or 5 Mins, or turn it OFF.: Menu - System Setup - Auto LCD OFF.

4. How to switch the camera to parking mode?

1) Turn on the parking monitor (Menu - Record Setup – Parking Monitor – Motion Detection/Time Lapse).

2) When you parked your car, press and hold the Emergency key for 3 seconds, you will see the Parking mode icon shown on the right side of the screen – that means the camera has switched into the Parking mode.

5. What’s the different from Motion Detection and Time Lapse?

With motion detection turned on, the camera will auto record video when it detects movement in front of the car, and stop when it detects no movement.

With time lapse on, the camera will take photos at the set time interval and then auto edit them together to a video clip. For example, when you set Time Lapse 1sec, the camera will take one photo every seconds, and then put the photos together to a video. As the camera’s recording speed is 30fps, when you record 8 hours with Time Lapse 1Sec, the final video will be 16 mins (=8*60*60/30/60).

6. When using the parking mode, should I connect the camera to another power supply?

Yes. The camera’s battery is too small to support long time job, you’d better power it by another charger so the camera could keep on. If you have an external battery for cellphone, that’s good.

7. Can I lock the video manually?

Yes. When the camera is recording, you could press the emergency button to lock the current front camera recording video clip.

8. Cannot take pictures or video clips.

Please check the micro SD card and see if it’s locked or has insufficient space.

9. It stops recording half way/ record randomly.

Please format your microSD card to FAT32 format on your computer. Please check whether your TF card supports high-speed transmission (C10).

10. When connecting to TV, there is no image on TV screen.

1. Please use a charger to charge the camera;

2. Please make sure HDMI cable is correctly connected, and the TV is switched to correct mode.

11. Video or pictures are blurry.

Please clean up the lens.

12. Horizontal lines interruption in the image.

This is caused by the light source is wrongly set, please set as 50Hz or 60Hz according to the local power supply frequency.

How to upgrade the Vantrue N2's firmware?

Please follow the Steps below to upgrade your device:

1.     Download the firmware to your PC;

2.     Format you microSD card on the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer through the USB port on the camera. Copy the firmware file (FIRMWARE.bin) to the microSD card, then unplug the camera from the computer and turn it off;

Note: the firmware file (FIRMWARE.bin) could not be recognized by computer, it could just be recognized by the dash cam, so don’t try to open it on PC, just copy it to the card.

3.     Plug the camera to a power charger (not computer), or press the power button;

4.     Then the camera will auto upgrade, and it will take about 30 secs to 1 min, during this time, the camera will not turn on and will not respond to any button or operation;

5.     Once the dash cam upgraded successfully, it will turn on and work.

6.     Please have a check the version of your device now (go to the System Setup menu and turn to the Version) and see if it is VTN28A.V21. If it is, then the camera has been upgraded successfully.

7.     Remove the file from the microSD card when the update has been completed, or the camera will upgrade itself everytime when it detects the firmware file in the card.

Update Note:

1.     Fixed bugs (white/flash screen, stop recording sometimes when loop recording is off, system dead sometimes when turned on) in the previous firmware version.

2.     Add a tip note in parking mode to remind users who want to switch camera mode to exit parking mode first.

One of the best dual dash cam on the market.Reviewed in the United States
VanTrue N2 is my fourth dash cam and finally I found a one that I can stick to. Camera does not looks or feels cheap. It is a solid camera. This is not the cheapest camera on the market but I’m sure well worth the money I spent if there’s any accident or you want to prove that you were not distracted using your cell phone. This is the camera you need if you do ride-sharing services. Camera comes with quick setup guide, manual and warranty cards.

All others I had was just front camera dash cams. This one is unique and comes with two cameras. Front camera is full 1080p and back camera is 720p. Front camera lens is 170° wide and rear camera has 140° lens and it’s capable of recording whole cars inside including driver and front passenger. Back camera is rotatable to get the proper angle.

Camera is small enough to install in the front windshield without getting too much attention from thieves. Also I like the complete matte black color. I have other dash cam’s that has silver shinning ring around the lens and that tells outsiders that I have a camera inside. I would blackout white lettering in the front if it draws attention. I wish they had a rear view mirror mount.

Power adapter and cable comes with it is long enough (11½ ft. long) to run through headliner and A-Pillar to hide and bring it to cigarette lighter. Either you can use camera body’s mini USB port or the mini USB port on suction cup to power this up. Camera will not see your 64GB card until you format it in the camera.

Camera’s loop recording intervals are 1, 3, 5, or 10 minutes. Or else you can turn the loop recording off and get a one long video clip. I might do that one of these days to see the outcome. Camera has mini HDMI out and AV out but I have not tested them yet. G-sensor works great and lock the video clip if there is an accident and then file moves to “EVENT” folder.

Now I know this is a solid camera so I would go ahead and get a hardwire kit and GPS mount to go with it.

Awesome DashCamReviewed in the United States
I just purchased this to cover myself for future after a recent accident I had for no fault of mine. The packaging is pretty nice and fixing the dashcam is really easy since the suction works flawlessly. Having used it for last 2 days I can say it works really well. The camera detects both front (1080p) and back (720p)and it is very distinct sharp and good clarity video. This device requires an external microSD card which is very convenient to take out without taking out the dash cam and plug it to my laptop to save the videos. The good thing is that the camera automatically starts recording when the car engine starts and keeps recording for a minute or so even when the car engine is turned off. Additionally, this dash cam detects events like collision or sudden noise and stores it under event folder which is a nice feature - thereby allowing for distinction between other recordings and eventful recording. One can also leave the camera turned on in parking mode to capture any miscreants when u have left the car parked at a shady area. The Picture-In-Picture display showing both front and back camera images is really useful to adjust the camera focus.

The only downside is that the device does not have cloud storage so in the event of a break-in the dash-cam if stolen, my data would be lost.

Good camera for the price - (1 week ownership so far)Reviewed in the United States
Bought this camera for one of our cars primarily because I didn't want to spend another $350 for a name brand that starts with the word Black - which we already own for one of our cars. When comparing the 2 cameras, the more expensive one has only 1 camera (rather than 2 - which this one has) and wifi, but the picture quality is almost identical. Definitely happy we didn't spend that much again. We've owned this camera for a week and had no issues so far. Sound quality in the recordings is fantastic and the picture quality is great as it allows you to read license plates easily. It takes a little fiddling around or reading the manual to set everything up (time, date, gps, etc... - which we've been too lazy to do) but it seems fairly straight forward. The night time footage is a bit grainy, but that's expected with most of these cameras just like the smart phones. So far we are pleased with our purchase and would buy this camera again if we needed another. Please note that a micro SD card is not included and you will have to buy one if you don't already have one. The camera also has a built in battery, but we haven't really ran it on battery only to know how long it lasts. FYI, the camera creates 1 video file for each camera (1 for the front and 1 for the rear) so it's fairly easy to filter out only front or rear videos when sifting through them by the filename suffix.

Great quality camera in a sleek compact package similar to Blackvue.Reviewed in the United States
I picked up this Vantrue dashcam for a Fiat 500e after installing a Blackvue in a Model X. I loved the Blackvue, and wanted a similar barrel type dashcam that would be hidden behind the break view mirror, but I didn't want to run wire for a rear camera, and the Vantrue is half the price, so decided to try out the N2.

What I really like about the Vantrue N2 is that the suction base is the charging dock. So if you wanted to remove the camera when parking the car, you don't have to mess with wires. It also looks cleaner when installed without wires plugged into the cam.

The video quality is just as good as the Blackvue, 1080P.

Unlike the Blackvue, it doesn't have GPS, although it can be added with a dongle, but I haven't looked into it. What it does have is a screen to make sure the cameras are on and aimed properly. On the Blackvue you need a phone to view the camera feed.

The rear camera being apart of the main camera, is aimed to face the interior of the car, so this would be perfect for ride sharing. On the Blackvue I have it mounted at the rear window, and it does not see passengers.

Overall, for half the price of the Blackvue, it's working out just as well.

 Great quality picture and easy playback.Reviewed in the United States
The Vantrue camera works perfect and I also purchased the hardware kit to have power to the camera all the time. Play back is easy and the picture quality is excellent. Only negative thing is I can't leave it in the window during the day because the car temperature gets above the working limit of the camera. So I have to bring it in the house or work during the day. But otherwise for the money it is a great buy.
