Amazing 3 channel dash cam with super clear hi res video and audio!Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2020
I am an owner of the Vantrue N1, and I've owned other dash cams. Getting the N4 was not something I needed to buy, but I decided to make the upgrade for a road trip. I am so glad I did! I didn't know what I was missing! For being the first 3 channel dashcam, they really delivered! Installation is easy. The camera feels sturdy and seems well built. I feel like they really considered the customer experience and day to day use in the design. The buttons are on top and easy to access. The screen is much larger than other dash cams I've owned and I would never go back. The resolution is so much better! I love having 3 different views. You can easily switch to the rear and the picture is very clear. My wife likes to use it to help her check to make sure no one is near the car before she backs out of the garage.I've had cameras that stop working in high temperatures, but so far in 105-degree weather, sitting inside a car (which is obviously hotter) in a parking lot in direct sunlight, this thing has had no issues at all! Supposedly the capacitor allows up to 158 degrees!! The cables are plenty long even for my full-size SUV - so you can hide them in the trim, which is good.It has an accident detection and g-sensor which help when there's a jolt or shock to the car - it records a video and puts it in a folder called 'Protect' so it is easier to find videos where there might be an accident. However this can be triggered when you go over a pothole, so you may want to adjust the sensitivity in the settings. The normal videos are stored in a folder called 'Video'. If you have hard wired the camera to always have power (requires an additional kit for 20-25 dollars), you can use parking mode which will turn it on if someone backs into your car or dings your door in a parking lot.I bought a 64gb (max 256gb, FYI) micro sd card to put in it and it lasts for quite a while before overwriting any of your videos. The micro sd card is easy to access right on the side, so I just take it out and plug it into a computer and download the videos. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that the recorded audio comes through on each of the 3 video streams. The infrared night mode is quite good, too.My only frustration is that I've had issues getting the suction cup to hold properly in extreme heat. After putting it back a few times and finding it on the floor in my car, I gave both the window and the suction cup a good cleaning with some Windex. Since then, I haven't had any problems. Other than that, I'm very happy and I'm going to replace my other car's dashcam with the N4 as well.
