FAQ

1. There are two USB ports, one on the camera and the other on the suction cup mount, which one should I use to connect to the car charger?

With the mount connected to the camera successfully, both ports will function.

2. The camera won’t respond at whichever key I press except for the Power button.

Check if the camera is in video recording. If yes, press Confirm button to stop it first.

3. Does the screen turn off automatically?

The default setting for the screen off is 3 mins, you can also adjust this time to 1 Mins or 5 Mins, or turn it OFF.: Menu - System Setup - Auto LCD OFF.

4. How to switch the camera to parking mode?

1) Turn on the parking monitor (Menu - Record Setup – Parking Monitor – Motion Detection/Time Lapse).

2) When you parked your car, press and hold the Emergency key for 3 seconds, you will see the Parking mode icon shown on the right side of the screen – that means the camera has switched into the Parking mode.

5. What’s the different from Motion Detection and Time Lapse?

With motion detection turned on, the camera will auto record video when it detects movement in front of the car, and stop when it detects no movement.

With time lapse on, the camera will take photos at the set time interval and then auto edit them together to a video clip. For example, when you set Time Lapse 1sec, the camera will take one photo every seconds, and then put the photos together to a video. As the camera’s recording speed is 30fps, when you record 8 hours with Time Lapse 1Sec, the final video will be 16 mins (=8*60*60/30/60).

6. When using the parking mode, should I connect the camera to another power supply?

Yes. The camera’s battery is too small to support long time job, you’d better power it by another charger so the camera could keep on. If you have an external battery for cellphone, that’s good.

7. Can I lock the video manually?

Yes. When the camera is recording, you could press the emergency button to lock the current front camera recording video clip.

8. Cannot take pictures or video clips.

Please check the micro SD card and see if it’s locked or has insufficient space.

9. It stops recording half way/ record randomly.

Please format your microSD card to FAT32 format on your computer. Please check whether your TF card supports high-speed transmission (C10).

10. When connecting to TV, there is no image on TV screen.

1. Please use a charger to charge the camera;

2. Please make sure HDMI cable is correctly connected, and the TV is switched to correct mode.

11. Video or pictures are blurry.

Please clean up the lens.

12. Horizontal lines interruption in the image.

This is caused by the light source is wrongly set, please set as 50Hz or 60Hz according to the local power supply frequency.

How to upgrade the Vantrue N2's firmware?

Please follow the Steps below to upgrade your device:

1.     Download the firmware to your PC;

2.     Format you microSD card on the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer through the USB port on the camera. Copy the firmware file (FIRMWARE.bin) to the microSD card, then unplug the camera from the computer and turn it off;

Note: the firmware file (FIRMWARE.bin) could not be recognized by computer, it could just be recognized by the dash cam, so don’t try to open it on PC, just copy it to the card.

3.     Plug the camera to a power charger (not computer), or press the power button;

4.     Then the camera will auto upgrade, and it will take about 30 secs to 1 min, during this time, the camera will not turn on and will not respond to any button or operation;

5.     Once the dash cam upgraded successfully, it will turn on and work.

6.     Please have a check the version of your device now (go to the System Setup menu and turn to the Version) and see if it is VTN28A.V21. If it is, then the camera has been upgraded successfully.

7.     Remove the file from the microSD card when the update has been completed, or the camera will upgrade itself everytime when it detects the firmware file in the card.

Update Note:

1.     Fixed bugs (white/flash screen, stop recording sometimes when loop recording is off, system dead sometimes when turned on) in the previous firmware version.

2.     Add a tip note in parking mode to remind users who want to switch camera mode to exit parking mode first.

 Rear camera and microphone are great addition. Perfect for UBER/LYFT drivers etcReviewed in the United States
Ok, so I bought a Aukey $65 dashcam prior to getting this. I put a micro card into the Aukey, couldn't get it to record. So I returned it. I then got this instead. I put the micro card in, bang, recording instantly.

At first I thought "what's the use of a rear facing camera"....then I watched some of the videos and they were a great record of a conversation between my son and I. I also realized how much I was looking at my phone, picking my nose, singing etc when driving! Uh Oh. The sound quality is excellent. I can hear the conversation perfectly from my sons in the back seat. Its as good or better than my iphone mic. If you were an uber or Lyft driver I would think this kind of dashcam would be a necessity. The video files are labelled Date etc A and B. A is forward facing camera and B is reverse. If you want to make a video of all your kids singing in the car, or doing some dance etc, this is it.

The forward facing video I would rate 8/10. Rear 7/10. I can clearly see licence plates etc when they are close. Sound is 10/10. I think this is very important. If an accident occurred I would bring the other driver over and talk so we had a record of conversation.

The video continues to record after keys are removed from ignition for around 20 seconds.

You can also set it to record if the unit is bumped (like in a carpark)

The suction cup works very well on glass. (make sure it is on the clear part of windshield, not the black dotted bit underneath mirror). When it fell down, because I had not mounted it properly, it recorded video of the falling down (like an accident would).

on the mount there is a mini usb charging port, so you can remove the camera, but the charging lead will stay in position. On another dashcam I have, I have to remove all of it to get it off windshield. So if you want to take the dashcam with you, its easy to remove.

The instructions were very good. No indecipherable Chinese translations.

One thing I would have liked is a longer USB cord. Its long enough to reach to the charger on the dash, but I would have liked to run it along top of visors and then down passenger side.

Overall, I would say this is an excellent purchase. I would recommend. There is a difference btw a $65 and $150 camera and its definitely worth paying to get something better

Great dashcam with good quality video and build.Reviewed in the United States
This is a really good dash-cam. The build feels good but still light. The suction cup is very strong and sticks to the windshield even over rough bumps. You get all the stuff you see in the picture, but you will need to buy a micro-sd. Drove around with it and the video quality was really good. The front facing camera is 1080p and the one that faces you is 720p. Both are 30 frames per second. Downloading was easy I just pull out the micro-sd and popped it in my computer. The video files come out in .mov format, so make sure you can open them. I will upload the videos to YouTube since Amazon highly compresses the videos and does not do justice to the quality. Overall a great camera.

very good picture qualityReviewed in the United States
The dash camera is easy to install. The instructions provided both English and Japanese language. It comes with a suction cap windshield mount which is also designed as a charger. The mount works fine on glass but it won't stay on the shade area on top of the windshield which is a bit annoying. I have to move the camera lower to adapt that. Camera setup is pretty straightforward. The default settings worked fine, one just need to change the time and date. There was a setting to let GPS adjust time, I haven't tried that yet but it should be useful.

Picture quality is very important, that's the whole purpose of a dash cam, record the incident. The front camera has 1440x1080 resolution which is good enough to capture the license plate and road signs. One thing worth mentioning is that the camera can capture 1080p at 30fps, which largely avoided choppy video recording. The images also showed large dynamics. When the car is driving between sunshine and shade, the video showed no significant loss of quality or flickering.

The camera lens is also wider than it's cheaper competitors.

Overall the product does what it claimed and produced better quality than others. It shall be a reliable choice of dash cam.

All around good dual dash camReviewed in the United States
Unboxing it, the unit has a good solid feel to it. The power and USB cable are standard. The windshield mount clicked in place securely as well. It stays where you place it. As long as your cigarette lighter is powered by the car being on then it will boot up when you need it. If not you'll have to piggyback on a fuse that does. I suggest going through the full menu once to get a feel for it. The inside 720p cam can be adjusted up and down slightly, but not left or right. The view is also wide enough to get all of your front and rear seat passengers in tow. It's good enough in case you need to review any inside events. The 1080p front cam can be adjusted fully. It's worth noting that the cam does not default in 1920x1080p mode, it starts in 1440x1080p. Only if you change it to front cam only mode, then you will get 1920x1080p. Colors are vivid and the resolution is good enough to capture all of you surroundings. Pressing the OK button will take a snapshot when you need it. I took 2 for testing purposes. Reviewing your media on the PC is easy too, connect your mini USB and it'll pop up. All in all, I'd recommend this dual dash cam setup to anyone looking to have peace of mind from outside (and inside!) factors.

 Documentation for what did or didn’t happen!Reviewed in the United States
The image quality is fantastic. Viewed on a monitor, the video is like watching Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. LoL.

I got this mainly to archive my Lyft passengers. Not only as proof of what happened but of what didn’t happen. People lie, trying to get paid or create drama. My daily personal driving will be deleted if uneventful. I feel much better having proof if I’m ever a witness or involved in an accident.

My favorite feature is how it starts to record when power comes on so I don’t have to touch it each time I drive. It’s just there.

You’ll learn to stop talking to yourself if you get a dash cam. I did.
