Vantrue X4S Duo 4K Dual Wifi Dash Cam

4.5/5.0

Really good front and back cameras. Included wifi makes transferring files easy. 7/24 hour parking mode is a great extra feature. I also like the fact that it can withstand high temperatures. My previous cam from another manufacturer would always overheat and shut down.

Quick set up. Photo and video quality is fantastic. My boyfriend who installs cameras for a living is quite impressed. I love the app connection so I don't have to remove the sd card to download data. Easy to use straight forward app. These are a few screenshots from the app. You can see that you can take stills and videos. I used this feature as the passenger. Just take note that the video on the camera and the wifi on the phone lag slightly so it gives you a few seconds to take that perfect shot.

Bought directly from vantrue. Camera was good when it worked x4s duo. After about 2 months in Florida, the camera started messing up by constantly rebooting and not recording. I tried a new memory card and updating the camera to no success. Other vantrue camera N4 3 channel is still working, tried that memory card in the x4s duo and still doesn't work. Camera is just broke, so I attempted to contact customer support to fix or replace and that was totally useless. This company ghosted me. ..What 12 month warranty! NO RESPONSE whatsoever... Crappy Nonexistent service. Now going through credit card for dispute. Oh yeah, wifi app sucks, slow and buggy...Camera was good when it worked buy they don't stand behind it, so try another.

Fast delivery, set up in 1 hour and work good.

I had an older dash cam from Vanture in the past and decided it was time to upgrade.Although my previous camera worked great and still does, this newer model is a huge improvement. The video quality is excellent, it was super easy to set up, and I really appreciate having the rear camera as well. The video is crystal clear and it covers the range that a driver would want it cover. The suction of the mount is also excellent.I feel so much safer having both the front and rear camera so that if anything were to happen I know the facts would be recorded. I tested the wifi option and it worked great, but I do not typically use it as I am using Android Auto most of the time and not looking at my phone.I would highly recommend this camera for anyone that wants the piece of mind having a dash cam provides. As for my older model, I have given that one to my daughter and now I can feel better knowing that is covered in the event of any accidents as well.

This dash-cam is an upgrade from their previous models. They even include stickers that you can put on your car to deter people who plan to commit insurance fraud.Build Quality: Very good. The wires that they come with are also very beefy which is nice. Thin wires might snag and rip or even get damaged over time. The connectors are also very secure which is nice. Otherwise the dash-cam might get turn off while you’re driving. The 3 inch LCD screen is also very useful for programming and reviewing footage. But honestly I would rather use their app or a computer to review the footage. They also include a usb outlet built into the ac 120 volt charger.Video Quality: I didn’t get to test all the video modes cause I didn’t feel the need to but the 4k (30fps), 2k (60 fps), and 1080p (120 fps) all worked very well. For the most part I opted to stick with the 2k setting so that I still had a pretty good frame rate for when I’m reviewing the footage. The higher the frame rate the more details are captured when reviewing the footage which might be more important than 4k sometimes. Either way you have 3 options to run with for the front camera. For the rear your stuck with a 1080p (30 fps) camera but honestly that is more than enough for day to day driving. It’s not like anyone is using their dash-cam to shoot a movie. For the recording you have the option of 1,2 or 3 minutes loop recording. If you want to quickly download the footage I recommend the 1 minute setting especially if you’re recording in 4k since the files are a lot bigger. Also as you can see from my video it works well even on cloudy/rainy days.App: The app works very well for me at least. The only complaint that I have is that for the live video it’s very choppy and a bit blurry. But when reviewing the footages the videos are very clear. You also have the option to sync the videos onto your phone which I really appreciate. It’s save you the time from having to plug the camera into a laptop or your phone to show an officer or your insurance company.Install: The wires were very long and made it easy for me to install it in my 4Runner so it should be fine for all cars and SUV. Just remember that if you plan to hardwire the camera it’s better to connect it to something that turns on when the car is on otherwise it may drain your car battery. They will always say it they have a voltage cut off but I personally wouldn’t trust it. Other than that install was pretty easy as long as you know how to tuck the wiring under the headliner and have the knowledge to remove the a pillar of your car. But be careful of how you do the wiring around the a pillar, you don’t want to wrap the wire around the air bags because it may prevent it from deploying correctly. But beside all that every thing was pretty straight forward.

I'd like to first point out that I'm a bit of Vantrue fan boy, most of my dashcams recommendation to friends and family are made by Vantrue, and I have good reasons. My previous dashcam was X4 but decided to upgrade because I needed a rear cam, and X4S duo seemed like it would fit my need. In term of video quality and resolution, they both are comparable, and don't think one is better than the other. Features wise, X4S has upper hand, and you can now control it with an app over wifi. X4 was also starting to giving me issues and timestamp kept getting reset. After I received X4S, I upgraded the firmware right away, which was an easy process. You basically grab the firmware from Vantrue's website, place it on the sd card and connect it with USB power (not to a computer).I have my default resolution set to 3840x2160P@30fps because it's skipping frames with 2560X1440P@60FPS, probably due to the memory card. Something to keep in mind. I suggest getting the optional hardwire kit and GPS mount for showing location and speed. I also liked that you can set the rear cam to be the default view, and turn off auto screen shut off, it can basically act as a rear view mirror. Overall, I don't have much to complain just like their previous generation X4.

It works great when it works as far as I know of cause I’m not trying to be in another accident this year. Some odd reason the backup cam does not come on all the time very random I have to keep unplugging it from the base and plugging it back in. The front picture is great the back not to much unless it’s just the angle of my car window that could play a factor. But it works.

Great dash cam, really good quality and the WiFi ability works well. Definitely comes in handy having the ability to pull up videos on your phone.

Used it for a few days now … easy to install …. Good quality product and instruction manuals are clear … wifi is pretty useful and easy

I've used an older Vantrue dash cam that served me well for about 2-3 years. I was not intending to replace it until I came across this dash cam that offered a compromise for app features without requiring a subscription or major price jump. The app is a little finicky, but it's new so I fully understand the hiccups. Regardless, once I figured it out it has been easy to use ever since. The front and rear camera recording quality is great, but that wasn't a surprise. This is a recommended buy.

Noteworthy Qualities:1. all power source is USB-C. Longest USBC cable supplies is a 20-footer (see picture of manual)2. "rear" camera is stick-on and rotatable. You can actually use it as a "reverse camera" if you stick it in the appropriate vantage point. The camera and display will turn on automatically when you power on your car.3. Packaging is great, Big Box retail quality. I point this out b/c this means it can be given as a wrapped gift. Not all Amazon products have this feature.4. Video output confirmed to be 4k @ 30FPS. Subjectively, video quality is great in daylight. Nighttime video quality is better than the handful of dashcams I have tried (subjective opinion). Vanture as a company seems to have solid video quality output as this is my 2nd product from same MFG.Further Comments:Recommended buy for a solid product. My use case is a dash-cam for SUV, replacing an old 2019-ish model of same Brand. You can use either the main camera solo, or combine it with a secondary camera. I suppose secondary camera is for the Gig-Economy drivers, but we use it as a rear-end dash cam. Interestingly, it can be used as a back-up camera too, but our car already has that feature. Install is the same as other dash cams. Main camera uses suction for the front windshield. Secondary camera can only be stuck on with the supplied adhesive. You then have to run the USB-C power source from the camera, hide it out of sight within the car, and reach a power source. Power source can be the supplied "Cigarette Hole Thingy" or your car's has USB/USBC output slots. Powering on your car automatically powers on the camera which will automatically record over old data. Our use case is motorvehicle accident documentation, as having the footage makes the (USA, Los Angeles) liability process always in our favor. Yes, I can attest to experiencing these proceedings with a dash cam. We can also sometimes serendipitously catch "interesting" footage while on the road which is also neat. Examples include a Space X rocket launch (thought it was North Korea coming at us at the time), Military Plane close flybys for airshows, and other people's car accidents (from mistakes) to teach my kids.Things to consider for other buyers:1. Both cameras use USBC power sources. The secondary power cable is a USBC to USBC 20 foot cable. The supplied power adapter has a unremovable USBC cable, but an open USB-A 2ndary slot. So if you wanted to power both cameras from the supplied power source, you would need a USBC to USBA adapter to utilize the 20 foot cable.2. Don't cheap out on SD card quality. I'm glad Vanture didn't supply the SD card for this reason.3. I need to figure out a bracket system that can hold the camera anchored to my rear view mirror. I've had no problems with the suction mount as of now, but I just don't trust suction cups and sticky pads in general. This addition is TBD!

I upgraded from the Vantrue S1 4k front a rear camera and I am glad I did. The camera was bigger than my S1, but the picture and the video quality more than made up for it. It does not block your field of vision. I was extremely happy with the suction cup mount option, as I live in Las Vegas, and I like the idea of being able to easily disconnect the camera on the extremely hot summer days. The rear camera was easy to install, although it would be nice if that was a suction mount too. The camera setup and menu were very easy to navigate and user-friendly. It was pretty much a plug-and-play setup. I do recommend if you encounter any issues at all go to the manufacturer's website and make sure you have the latest firmware installed for both the front and rear camera software, the instructions are located on the website with the downloads. I had issues with my old camera, not this one and I had to contact Vantrue customer support, they are the best support team I have ever dealt with. So, if you do need to reach out, I promise your issue will be resolved. If you are looking for a high-quality user-friendly product, I highly recommend this camera!

I think this is my 4th or 5th vantrue dash cam. I keep upgrading them. Unboxing these reminds me of unboxing an iPhone. Very nice. Easy setup and install. Really like the rear cam for those rear end collision. Very impressed.

Everything I like about the camera except the app it's useless

Great video. Got the seperators GPS mount. So far so good. Easy install too with the provided tool.

A few people here have said that if you use the camera itself and not worry about the App, then it’s a 5 star product; I agree. The camera is great quality and definitely an upgrade from the other products I’ve had (the X4 and X3 with Wi-Fi). The UI on the X4S camera is more clean looking compared to the X4 and that’s always a plus. Also what others have said, a way to make this the complete package and to take advantage of the advertised wifi feature is to have a way to have that Wi-Fi enabled at all times without manually going into the settings to turn it on and then connect. The app also needs some work with the playback as I can’t zoom in on videos like I do normally when viewing videos on my iPhone. It’s almost there as a complete package. The camera itself I rate 5 stars, as a whole, I’d give it a 4 to 4.5 because of the App.

I own several cameras by Vantrue, they are all quality. This is my first wifi enabled version, connects to my phone easily and stays connected. Camera quality at 4k looks great, highly recommend getting one. The software functions flawlessly, no issues with setup or reviewing footage.

Upgrading to this Vantrue from a Viofo A119 Pro. I installed the dash cams about a week ago and installation was easy with my CRV since I could tuck the cables under the weathering strips and headliner. I do wish they included a suction cup style mount for the rear camera if I ever want to replace it because I still haven’t been able to remove the glued-on mount of my Viofo. Every video says to use floss, but maybe the floss I have just isn’t as strong. I do miss the form factor of the Viofo since it hugged the windshield, but the bigger screen on the Vantrue is nice. I kind of wish the screen could tilt like a DSLR so that I could see it better from where I installed it to the right of my rear-view mirror. I can see a lot more out the back than with just my rear-view mirror. One thing that is missing is a brightness setting so I can't lower it for use at night. I just have it set to turn off after a couple of minutes. The camera UI is easy to navigate, and the buttons are well placed. The top power button also doubles as the emergency save footage button. It’s the only button on the top so when I really need to press it, I won’t get confused about which button to press. My mom has an Aukey dash cam and it’s almost impossible to see the labels of the buttons when it’s dark. The Wi-Fi feature is also nice, and the app works well with my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It’s good to use it to review videos on my phone, but I don’t see myself using it much because the camera turns off when I turn off my car and with gas prices this high, I don’t want to be idling in my car just to keep the dash cam on. I have an SD card reader in my glove box I use to quickly transfer the files to my phone for viewing on my computer.I’ve been using the front camera at 4k 30FPS and the rear camera at 1080p 30FPS with the default video settings. In bright sunlight the front camera footage is very good. I can read a license plate that’s maybe up to 15 feet away. Even in the dark the footage looks nice and since most license plates and signs are reflective it helps make them readable. The rear camera is a little more average in quality. It’s not as clear and sharp as the front camera but works well to film what’s happening behind me.There is a warning about not using Sandisk SD cards, but I put a 256GB Sandisk High Endurance Micro SD card in it, but no problems so far.I don’t use the parking features so I can’t really comment on that.

Everything works great. The only thing is it doesn’t work with a power bank. I connect it but it doesn’t power on. I’ve checked if maybe it’s the power bank that isn’t working correctly but I’ve connected my other devices and I have no problem. So for some reason the camera doesn’t get charge from the power bank.

This never powered on from the start. Tried to contact Vantrue for customer support and no response. Luckily Amazon is allowing me to return.

Have been using for about a week now and so far it is working great. Have some issues connecting with the app but I think that is probably more due to me not quite figuring it out yet. Only thing to note is the power is in the suction cup so if you want to use the rear camera you have to use the suction cup. I live in vegas so I was trying to get one I could hang from my mirror with an additional mount. We will see how it holds up to the heat. It is wired to my upfitter switch now and working well.

Would only let me upload 1 video....but both cameras front and back are excellent in quality and an easy installation

I Would give this camera five stars if the Wi-Fi would connect automatically every time I turn the camera on. Unfortunately, I have to go in and set the Wi-Fi every time I activate the camera.

Coming from Viofo, this is so much easier to set up, connect, monitor, and use. And it doesn’t lose date/time every time the car turns off!

I have the Vantrue X3 previously, it was a decent model with wifi but after few years the battery slowly deteriorates that causes the date/time to delay, so it was time for me to try something new. Bought the X4s because it have pretty much everything I'm looking for, front/rear cameras, wifi build-in, super capacitors instead of batteries, and 4K resolution on front camera. What impresses me the most is the camera quality, under direct sunlight and night time. It's able to adjust exposure very quickly under the sun and pick up the right details. At night time it's able to pick up great details too. Overall, great dash cam!
wayne l.
I have been using it for a week now. It records well and is able to capture even plate numbers. You can download dash clips using wifi or using the sd card. Overall very good camera. The camera is about the size of a credit card.

Living in an area with many tailgaters (and the police don't seem to care) you need something like this. Some of these huge trucks ride your bumper and if they can't stop, they'll hit you and you'll run into whatever is in front of you.The camera is easy to install. You need a micro SD card. The video quality is excellent. Wifi is an added benefit.

Could not get my phone to connect to either of the two that I purchased. I have an IPhone 12 and after reading a review that had a customer looking for help for a week I decided just to return it and get myself something that works. Hopefully

This is all in all a quality product -- so far so good at least. From the smooth overnight shipping, to thoughtful packaging and user manuals presentation, and of course the product design and performance itself, I'm honestly impressed A to Z.  It also comes with a plastic tool which you can use to pop out the SD card and tuck the wire out of sight in your car, that I think is going an extra mile and didn't go unnoticed.  The suction cup, by the way, is as sturdy as a suction cup can be. You turn the tab to tighten as opposed to flipping, making it more durable and reliable. You do need to supply your own micro SD card which you, by the way, should insert before powering it up, lest you get an invalid SD card message when you format it.  I use one with 128 GB but you can go up to 256 GB.  Another tip is to make sure you remove the magnetic lens protector film, or you get blue tinted video like I did initially.  The default resolution is 4K at 30 fps.  No complaints about the video quality, it's all right on point.  But I prefer 1080 at 60 fps as it's more smooth and practical for me.  The screen display is pretty much the entire back area of the dashcam; therefore, it feels large. The 4 navigation buttons are ergonomically positioned, and the most important button, the emergency event save button, is unambiguously and intuitively placed at the top right where a camera shutter button normally is.  I like that a lot.I also like the USB C connection to the device, so it's a snap to connect.  Also 2 separate cords are provided, one for the car cigarette light and one for the USB A.  It's very nice you have the option of connecting the power cord to the suction cup apparatus which in turn powers the dashcam.  As a geek or sorts, I appreciate these design details.  That being said, the range of movement for adjusting the camera angle is rather limited. But I suppose it's not an issue unless you have a lamborghini. I didn't try the parking mode as my car doesn't have constant power when the engine is off. I did play with the time lapse mode which may have a special use case outside of parking mode and I'll keep that up my sleeve.I did attempt to contact customer service / tech support just to get a feel. So there's an online form you fill out and you'll be contacted within 24 hours.  In my case, it was within 10 hours via email.  It's OK but I prefer if there's a live chat available. One negative so far is the Wifi for the app.  The dashcam can host its own Wifi network so you can connect your smartphone to it to change settings and playback videos.  Connectivity is flaky - it's been frustrating that sometimes the SSID shows up, sometimes not.  But it's not one of my use cases anyway.  I prefer to view and video on a big screen as opposed to on the dashcam or a smartphone. The price point is also on the high side, but that normally comes with quality.  Overall, I feel confident to recommend this dashcam to my friends and family.

I was using the X4 dashcam for quite awhile and did not like the night capabilities of it since a majority of my driving was in the dark. The X4S completely solved these issues and more. The color accuracy is completely better, quality viewing distance increased, and a back camera was added. The ports were changed from a mini-USB to a standard USB-C which is in line with modern standards. The suction cup was strengthened a lot, I had issues with the X4 falling off the windshield if the car heated up too much while that has yet to happen with the X4S.The first two images provided are a comparison of the X4 at +1.0 exposure and the X4S at +0.0 exposure respectively. The quality is just completely different. The front camera has an improved sensor running at 8MP which can view details at a farther distance, shown in the third picture. The license has partial info blocked for obvious reasons. Lastly was have an image of the back camera, it runs at 2MP and is similar to other higher end dual dashcams. The only issue would be the app. The basic function of downloading the videos to your phone works perfectly but the app also acts as a remote for the dashcam when connected. This remote feature is very much in its early stages and I am sure it will improve for people that might want to use that feature. I personally only use the WiFi connection to download videos and have not had any issues with that.Overall I recommend this dashcam if it is within your price range, really happy with the improvements from Vantrue.

This is my second Vantrue Dash cam and it has been pretty good so far.It comes packaged very nicely. Most importantly, the super capacitor in this is essential. I am at a place where there is extreme heat and pretty bad cold and a battery left standing in the sun/cold would be killed within a season. The super capacitor is a must have in my opinion. The 4K is good for reading license plates that are a bit further away. 60 fps is arguably also useful, since you get more frames in, in case of a critical scenario. Maybe we can have 4K 60fps in the front and the back at some point in the future! The f/1.7 and f/2.0 lenses (front and back) are good fast lenses, especially for low light. The 3inch LCD is not touchscreen, which is perfect, because I suspect the touchscreen would eventually malfunction if left parked in extreme heat too long. Physical buttons for the win.The max memory supported says 256GB, which is plenty if you're using it to record unfortunate events but might not be enough for scenic drives. Perhaps 512GB might work despite the specified max. Has anyone tried it?I would also like to try this out on a motorcycle, perhaps I'll update the review if I get a chance to try itI'm going to take a 1500 mile road trip in the summer and should be able to put this camera through its paces in detail.Overall, it does the job and looks great!

Great quality video from both the front and back cameras. Installation was quick and easy. Cords were long enough to conceal in trim.

This product was difficult to use hard to set up and wasn't as advertised so I returned it

This dashcam is very good at all levels of recording inside the car picture perfect clear with a fisheye view which is all you can ask for plus you can see who's driving the car behind you a nice feature. The front view is just plain excellent in day or night view.

I purchased this dash cam after reading a lot of reviews and watching a multitude of idiot driver YouTube videos. The camera quality front and rear are absolutely amazing. The camera is easy to set up and get wired in (I highly recommend the VanTrue wiring kit, unless you're okay with the cigarette lighter adapter). The windshield mount is great because I can move the front facing cameras between my vehicles with ease. I really like having the app on my phone where I can transfer video over from the camera without disconnecting it and bringing it in my house. The night vision of the camera is amazing and crystal clear. No halos or light blobs from headlights in either the front or rear cameras. The sun directly hitting the lens also doesn't discolor, distort, or darken the video. Overall, I am extremely happy with this camera and have recommended it to several of my friends. I'm pretty well convinced this is the best camera on the market, from a price and quality aspects.

I was just in a car wreck this past week - just parked at a light - waiting to turn left - and this guy came and rammed the left side of my car. WTF! Not only this, but he then proceeded to flee the scene. I really wish I had this camera, at that moment. Just installed it a couple of days ago, and it has put my mind more at ease.PROS:-The quality is great on both cameras - though the back is just 1080p still looks great- and the front is 4K - You can also adjust the exposure to your liking. (I thought the back picture was perfect, but the front needed more exposure to make it just right)-Super easy setup. I thought at first that I'd just install the front camera - and leave the rear camera for a moment I had tons of time to handle the installation. However, it was super easy to do - so I went ahead and installed both. The cable to the rear was more than long enough for my 2015 RAV4. And I love that the rear camera can be tilted up or down - to adjust for the incline in the window it will be attached to.-Has it's on WIFI (which you need to turn on each time you use it) ... which allows for live viewing of both cameras on your phone. As well as easy access to download files to your phone (though I recommend if you will be downloading many, to move the card to a PC SDcard slot - or connecting your camera to a PC)CONS:- my only real grip has to do with not being great with Apple. My iMac and Macbook Pro won't recognize the format on the Memory Card (though it is ExFat) ... however I do have a PC laptop (Lenovo) that i can connect the camera to - to have better access to the files when i need to download all of them. (I also plan just to buy a small SDcard adapter to plug into my Lenovo - to make accessing the memory card even easier.FINAL thoughts:- Definitely recommend this camera. I'm been very satisfied with the purchase - and feel much better now having installed it.

Great dash am. This was the first dashcam that I actually like. It comes with all you need to install and set up. Super easy to hide the cables with the tool provided. Just use the tool to push the cable. .

First of all, I love anything with USB-C. This is way more convenient for me to use it after unplugging from the car.The picture quality is very good compares to my old Cowon AW2. I can easily read any nearby car plate from the video playback. (I'm using 1080P@60 front&rear at night)The size of the unit is a also surprise for me, I have attached some pics to show that. However, I do wish there would be a better to mount the camera. After weeks of usage, it works pretty well, but I think the parking mode cable or the GPS unit should be included to attract more customers at this price tag or give it the ability to record 2K@60FPS both front and rear at the same time.

Video quality is very good night vision is good. The app works very well and installation was quick and easy. The front cord was 2 feet short after routing the cable out of sight I had to purchase an extender cord to make it work. The rear cord was long enough for my mounting purposes. The pros outweigh the cord problem thus my 5 star review.

paid extra for the Wi-Fi to phone feature but it doesn't connect. USELESS RIPOFF

The camera quality is not worth the money, it is very difficult to use and the night vision is not clear as what I expected! I Don’t recommend to anyone!

Very high quality product. Great, sharp and clear vids. Worth the premium price.

The install was fairly straight forward on this one (though it was the first time I had ever installed a rear cam for a car). Once the car started, everything ran very smoothly. Camera image quality is excellent. Haven't had too many hiccups at all and the footage is all easily reviewable and retrievable (whether remotely or via the dash cam interface itself). Still have a ways to go before seeing how truly reliable it is but so far so good!

First I have to mention that this is my second Vantrue camera. I have had a X2 for several years and I was impressed that it had lasted this long in the californian sun. The only issue with that camera was that once in a while it will stop overwriting the SD card and it could not record so I had to do a manual format, but I have noticed in the X4S menu they implemented a notice to format the card periodically which will prevent any SD card issues. I am very happy with the wifi option and the fact it only turns on when needed, I will ask them to maybe create a way to compress the videos in the app to be able to share easily because the original file sizes are enormous. The image day and night is amazing. I have bought the GPS MOUNT and I was so pleasantly surprised to see that inside the Vantrue app it has a map with the vehicle that shows below the video playing and displays the location of the vehicle where the video was recorded.I have been using it for a week and I am really happy with the improvements over the old camera, I hope it will last as long as my old one and I am curious to see how it deals with the high temperatures in the summer.

This camera is perfect for daily use, easy to use and install, user manual explain all you need. Video quality is fantastic and easy to download through the mobile app or through usb cable.

This camera checks all the boxes I was looking for in my first dash cam. The image quality is amazing, let's start with that. I've been going back-and-forth with 4K @ 30fps and 1080P @ 60fps. More frames seem like the way to go with high-speed events but I still can't decide. I had to bring the exposure down both on the front and rear cameras because I live in a sunny region and it was a little washed out during the day. Even after slightly reducing the exposure, night recordings are crisp and clear. The buttons are laid out in an intuitive manner and feel like quality components. The menu layout and available options seem well thought-out. There are only 3 sub-menus and every setting was right where I expected to find it. I didn't use the manual or quick start guide but they seem to be high-quality and printed in several languages. I upgraded to the GPS suction mount (separate review) so can't comment on the mount that it comes with. The camera starts up quickly and then does it's thing silently-just as I was hoping for-through the options that turn off the screen after 30s and turn off the external recording light. The screen is easy to see in all lighting conditions and not blinding at night. I really can't find anything that I don't like about this product after 2 weeks of use.

I had great hopes with this dash cam. My hopes have been dashed since the cam will not maintain a WiFi connection to my iPhone 11. It will connect temporarily when the "connection successful" screen on the cam is displayed. Once that message times out the connection to the iPhone is lost. Multiple retries provide the same failed result.I have worked with the Vantrue customer support on this issue. They tried to help for most of a week without success. (Note: The customer service representatives tried their best to help within their technical limitations. I can not fault their effort to resolve the problem.) The CS reps ultimately felt that this was a problem that their development people would have to address. The reps also indicated that there have been issues with connecting to some iPhones. The CS reps suggested that I return the dash cam for a replacement. The hope was that dash cam may have been a defective unit. The replacement arrived today and it had the same connection flaw. It's the model that is the issue. The dash cams arrived with firmware version V22 installed. The problem occurred in this version. I updated the dash cam to the latest firmware version V23. That did not solve the problem. For future buyers a firmware fix will be necessary. There are a lot of positive reviews for this model on Amazon. Assuming that these reviews were genuine I decided to go with this model. Unfortunately, the reviews did not include the phone models that were paired with the X4S.I will have to go another direction now. I wish there were more options for WiFi capable dash cams at his time.

This Dashcam is one of many I own, including my Vantrue N4's in other vehicles, and other dash cams I've tried. The footage is crystal clear, 4k, and the rear camera is also very good. The footage is very high framerate, and I am more than satisfied with my purchase. Would recommend, 10.10

I had returned one after a month, got another one around 2 months for now.Video record is good quality, however it got the same issue that is even i connected camera with wired kit, power red light alway on but the operation blue light is off, have to press power button manually. Then i tried to update v23 at this time when ever I plugged the rear camera, the main camera screen on but can’t record and I couldn’t press any button also. So I plugged the rear one out, the main work normally. This product so annoys to me.

AWESOME dashcam duo. I'm upgrading from the X4, so not too much difference other than having the second cam, and the ability to stream to my phone or watch prerecorded clips there. Best dashcam I've owned so far.
Charles
Good as long as you don’t need to review your stored video.I think this is an ok camera. I really just need it in case of an accident so if the quality is good enough to see what occurred then I am happy. The problem is viewing the footage. You have the option of viewing on the small camera display, using the app through your phone or reading the microSD card in your computer. The screen is small so not a great option, the app does not work well and is difficult to connect to the camera and the microSD card format is not recognized when trying to read on an Apple computer. Consider this when buying.

Overall I’m disappointed in the products with the following:NOTE: I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version (V23) as of this review1. The iOS mobile app is largely useless. It cannot connect to the 5GHz band. I can only connect to the 2.4Ghz. Even with that, the app consistently crashes when I attempted to download or view existing footage from the camera. Basically the app is ONLY good for adjusting various settings2. I hard wired the camera with the battery and my battery is good. I parked my car for a day or two without driving and noticed the camera was shut-off when I started driving3. I tried to contact support via their website several times and never get a response. The support site seems to be broken. I get a black page after submitting my issuesSo in short, if you’re looking for a reliable dash cam, you may need to look somewhere elseRegards

I purchased this from the Vantrue website and got the X4s Duo, the GPS Mount, and the 256GB Memory card. Installation was straight forward and the cameras worked very well. Setup menus are easy to follow and make sense. Love that there are separate exposure settings for both the Front and Rear Cameras. Also one of the only lower cost cameras that have 4K x 1080p at the full 30fps. Front camera provides a very good image and reading license plates is possible under most conditions, day or night. Unfortunately I have a slightly tinted rear window and the rear camera appears to struggle at night. I tried various exposure settings and they help some, but the image is very "grainy" at night. During the day the rear camera is very good, just like the front. Very happy with this purchase and have ordered a 2nd one for another car. Time will tell if they can stand up to the Texas heat in the summer. I was looking at the A129 due to it's good reviews but the large number of heat related issues were just too many to ignore. Hopefully this Vantrue will be OK. It is rated to 158F so fingers crossed.

I bought this X4S Duo as an upgrade to my current N2 Pro that I bought back from 2018. The N2 Pro itself still works like charm. So when I decided to upgrade my dashcam to have a rear camera, I decided to get the Vantrue instead of others in the market as I already knew the quality of their products. The X4S is a little bit heavier than the N2 Pro, but the camera itself is more durable. The rear camera is somewhat lighter as it look more discrete than front camera. In terms of video and picture qualities, the front camera itself can deliver 4k at 30fps, which is good. As, only a few dashcams on the same price range can deliver 4k. The rear camera is as good as the from camera, Although it can only go up to 1080p, It solid good enough to capture the rear of the car. Again, only a few dashcams out there with a rear camera that can do 1080p. Mostly can only do 720p. Overall, the X4S is a great dashcam. Combined with the rear camera, it can protect your car almost all around. The only things I don't recommend this type of dashcam is to those who are doing rideshares, as this dashcam doesn't have a cabin camera just like the N2 Pro. Another thing is that the window mount is very hard to take off from from the front camera. It could easily scratch the front camera, or worst scratch the front lens, if you are not careful enough. I hope in the long run, the mount of the front camera would not fall off the window just like the mount I have for the N2 pro, especially during summer time. The suction cup gets loosen when it is too hot. At this time of review, I only used this dashcam for a few days now. If there's changes, I would edit this review.

Easy to install. Suction on the window did not seem to hold well. The “free” app totally sucks. If there might be a decent third party app instead, I would be interested.

Great dual dashcam. Mounting was great the included wire was the just right length. Playback is better than just viewing through camera while in car and works great at night. It’s not until you playback that you realise it’s better. As per picture attached it’s perfect. Can see clearly, which was something I needed since I drive frequently with dangerous drivers and need that added protection. Lock feature makes it harder to delete video after an accident occurs. You Can access through your phone though I'm not sure how to send it to others if something occurs. It has its own wifi to do this. They give you a suction cup to secure it to the window l.A few great features1080p at 120 fps is unbelievable frame rate for a dashcamOr 4k/30 for that perfect detailNice looking screen on the backAnd the included rear dashcam is nice to have all in one app

Didn’t work even though I purchased a separate SD card. SD card was vantrue. Tried getting support on it and it still didn’t help. Amazon couldn’t talk to the manufacturer because they weren’t in the country. Waste of time and money. Got a brand new one and still didn’t work.

I have been using this camera for a week now and I like it a lot. The video quality is great, It is as reliable as the quality of your memory card. The installation process was straightforward, there is even a plastic tool provided to tuck in all the cables. In the short future, I will consider using a hardwire kit to make space in my console plug. This is a very high-quality camera (you can tell from the packaging as well) and I think the price point is very reasonable.

Short Version:Pros:1) Great resolution and video clarity2) easy setup3) Expanded recording options if only using front camera. See long version for more details.4) great viewing angle5) Capacitive battery backupCons:1) Type C rear camera cable is a bit thick. This can be a bit thinner.Long Version:Overall this is a great dashcam.1) Setup was a breeze. Mount the front and rear camera how you like. Connect the rear camera to the front. Plug in the sdcard. Format it internally, and plug in the cigarette lighter adapter and you are good to go in terms of capturing video! The camera start recording when you turn on your vehicle and stop recording when you turn your car off.2) Daytime video were great! I can definitely read license plates with the 4K resolution in the day. The rear camera is a bit harder to read, due to being only 1080p, but that is expected especially if you can only look outside the rear.3) Night time capture was also great using the front. The rear was a bit more washed out due to the other car's headlights. There is really not much you can do about this. Both cameras have great HDR which helps keep things still viewable when there are sun or bright light source.4) Viewing angle was great and covers most of the view. One pro tip is you get the most resolution out of your camera at the center of the video frame. This is just physics and how the camera lens works. Hence why in my video, I had my front car in the center of the camera video frame even if it captures some of my front dash. This goes the same for the rear.5) Mounting the cameras: Suction is very stable and solid. I have not tested it long term in the heat yet so I can't say how long it will last, but it is definitely very secured when I was mounting the front camera. The rear camera has decent 3M double side tape and was very solid mount. Moreover, there isn't a lot of weight to the rear cam so I don't think the sticky tap will be an issue long term.6) Capacitive Battery backup. This really helps when using the dashcam in hot and cold environment. I use to have a Lithium battery backup dashcam and the battery was pretty much dead 1 year in. My other capacitive battery backup dashcam continued to work 5 years on. Now I plan to upgrade to this one.Extras:Another plus for this dashcam is if you use only the front camera by itself, the camera allows you to record at 1440p @ 60fps or 1080p @ 120fps which really helps with reading license plates when there is a lot of motions. However when you use the front in conjunction with the rear, the options are mostly limited to 30fps. So keep this in mind. If mounted properly on a tripod or some of the mount, you might be able to use this dashcam as an action cam also!

Upon receiving this VanTrue OnDash X4S, I could tell right away that it was a quality product. The packaging was very nice with everything inside the box was sorted well and labeled.Install was very easy with very well written instructions for quick setup. The full manual is detailed and helpful if you really want to dig into the capabilities. This is my second VanTrue dash cam and they are both great products. This camera uses all USB C connections which is fantastic. They are robust and easy to use USB connectors. I wish that it would become the new standard. Kudos for VanTrue for using these in this product. I would recommend this unit to anyone. The front camera has a sturdy mount with an easy to use suction mount and swivel. The rear camera uses a preinstalled high adhesion tape (removable later if needed). I hid the well insulated wires inside the interior trim pieces easily. The front and rear cameras feel built very well and provide a high quality video that can be watched in the phone app or on your computer. The app works seamlessly and connects to my dash cam quickly using the built in wifi. I have posted a 1 minute video to show the quality of the video. The front and rear cameras can be viewed at the same time in the dash cam screen or you can toggle through different screen configurations according to your preferences. The recorded videos are in separate files labeled "A" for front camera and "B" for rear. The videos are easy to find and could be very helpful in an event. When I pause the video, I can clearly read license plate numbers. I have the front camera set to 4k and the rear to 1080HD. I use the "always on" feature in case there is an event while I'm away from my beloved BMW.You don't need to be an automotive electronics geek to get this camera installed and running. It's a very straight forward process that VanTrue has designed into their products.

Installed the new dash cam and drove California to Colorado and it worked very well. Worked much better that other dash cams I had in the past. It keeps the data & time even after power off, which is very important.
J
This is a solid dash cam. The front video quality is impressive. 4k uses more memory but the video is superb. The rear is solid but not 4k, so it's less impressive in comparison. Definitely does the job on the rear. The night vision is really good in front, the rear tends to get some glare from head lights, so don't expect too much on that part. Overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase. I recommend getting a 250gb SD card as the 4k takes up a lot of space. I went with Samsung for the SD. Comes right on when I turn the car on and shuts off a minute or so after I shut the car off. The charge plug has a swivel top piece that allows you to plug another USB into it so you don't lose a charge port while this is plugged in, which is nice to have. Very happy with this camera.

Giving my current S1 to my dad so I need a replacement. Although S1 wasn’t perfect but Vantrue has one of the best quality vs price ratio; it did not turn me away from buying another dash cam from them. I ended up gotten the newer X4S this time.Just like when I purchased the S1, X4S continues to impress. It still comes with great cushioned packaging, completed parts and accessories included (even all the cables & mounts). It worked nicely right out of the box, only things I had to do was format the SD card and change the date/time. I went through the rest of the setup menu, it is easy to read on the bigger sharp and crisp screen, and buttons are easy to maneuver; I was delightfully impressed. There is no firmware to update from the website yet, but why need one when everything worked flawlessly?I drive to work every day in a major US city, I see accidents almost every other day and having a dash cam is a must. I can see the license plate very clearly in both day and night, even during the recent sleet & snow storm. It has wide angle coverage & also comes with a (window) rear camera (1080p) to cover my back. Vantrue makes another solid dash cam that’s hard to find faults with!I won't bother putting the specs but I'll compare the newer X4S with my S1:• X4S setup menu much improved from S1, intuitive, and easier to read.• X4S buttons are easy to press & much user friendly• X4S has the larger 3” screen vs 2” in S1• X4S comes with newer USB-C vs mini-usb cable (very important!)• X4S has the front 4K resolution vs 1080p from S1. Both day/night vision has improved tremendously!Other features are available in both but improved in X4S:• G-sensor to detect vibration & starts event recording• Clear audio recording

Their previous models were already solid choices for a front and back dash cam, but were missing an easy way to get access to the files on the fly. Now with an app, I think they’ve got all the bells and whistles that made my choice easier. So far so good and would recommend.

I don’t like that it takes so long to download a video in order to save it and play it. I haven’t had the chance to download one because of how long it takes. I wish it could just connect to your phone and view the video. It also it’s difficult to connect to the camera in order to view and download the videos. Not very impress but it’s ok

Excellent video quality. It captures everything. It also records voice. It also saves sudden movements to special folder. Its easy to use and install and can also add gps and bigger memory to it. And WiFi feature allows you to record video also on your phone. I love it!!

Worth the money. This works well in the desert like Indio & Palm Springs.

Let me start by saying I have an older version Vantrue dashcam which was 1080. At that time I had tried a few cheaper cams and returned them as the quality was not there and I suspected long term reliability. I decided you get what you pay and paid more to get the Vantrue. It has not disappointed me in the last 3 years and has been very reliable. I was interested in getting a cam to cover both front and back of the car after a few shady incidents on the road. I looked at what was currently available and wanted a 4k front sensor and didn’t put a priority on the rear sensor. Looked at options available and decided to go with this one with a promising new sensor. Now talking about the x4s, it was a breeze to setup as I already had the window mount for the old one and this one is the same mount. FYI the x4s uses usb-c unlike the old one on micro. I routed cables to the rear and with some trial and error got it mounted correctly. I really like that Vantrue included a plastic tool to lift and route under the headliner - kudos for making it easier on the diy-er.I have used the unit now close to a month and am very happy to report that the quality of recordings is fantastic on the 4k sensor. Daylight captures and stunning and nighttime is very impressive. They sure have come a long way and am contemplating upgrading the other car as well after saving up. The rear cam is just fine in my opinion and I'll be honest, after seeing how good the front sensor is, the rear view is usable but not blow your socks off good. Compared to not having anything, it is a huge upgrade for me. Daytime clips are good, wish the night time captures were better. My thought is that the front camera is the one doing all the heavy lifting to write data. We know how much bandwidth is needed for 4k and now we are adding another 1080 stream which is a lot if you have worked with video. Let's give them some more time and I'm sure we'll soon see similar quality on the rear cam as well.Overall, I have to give this one 5 stars. Yes it is expensive but considering the pain to go through with lawyers and police and insurance to prove your point vs just handing them a clip from your dashcam is peace of mind. Also just the fact that you have a dashcam in your car seems to deter some people. In the end I consider it an investment/insurance. If this will last me another 3/4 years, it money totally well spent and I can sleep better.

Great dash cam and definitely worth upgrading from the Vantrue X3 dash cam. The Vantrue X4s Duo dash cam is a considerable step up from the Vantrue X3 with its 4K video and included rear camera. I’ve owned the X3 for a few years now and really like it but the X4s takes what I like about the X3 adds 4K and more features. I’ve uploaded 15 secs of day & 15 secs of night video for reference. I haven’t installed the rear cam yet but will soon. Day video is crystal clear, and due to the 4K, you can make out license plates and read signs. Night vision looks good also with the built-in WDR. Using the dash cam has improved since the X3 as the buttons are easy to reach and most serve a dual purpose. You just either do a short press or a long press for different functions. WiFi is easy to use with the IOS app and makes it easy to download a video to your phone or tablet. You may want to limit each file to 3 minutes to make the file smaller which will shorten the time to download it. That’s just a personal preference. I noticed that the windshield mount design has been improved upon which makes much more sturdy. Overall a great dash cam.

Manual gets the system up and running quickly. Video looks great. Manual is lacking in some details about the wifi operation. Support responded to my questions within 24 hours. Nice!

I have used many dash cams and this is one of the best I had so far. Clear picture. Saves any sudden movement to the event folder so they don’t get deleted. I would absolutely love it if it had a third cam that records the inside.

This is an amazing camera that captures high resolution images both day and night. Set up is extremely easy and the kit contains all the necessary tools. They even included a plastic piece used to peel back rubber and plastic trim in your car so that you can tuck in the wires out of sight; they seriously thought of everything and I think that’s reflected in the rest of the package and it’s suite of options. In terms of use, loop recording can be set to 1,2,3,5min length clips with variable resolution. Menus are easy to access and clips can be easily downloaded via their app (supports both android and iOS) via Wi-Fi or by of course removing the micro SD card.I highly recommend this product for its high quality execution, video capture, and multitude of customizable options.

My kid just turned 16 and starting to drive by herself so getting her a dashcam just in case.Pros:4K is a lot. I can clearly read license plates of the cars I was passing by at night time. In case of collision it will be even easier since the car will be directly in front lit by headlights. See picture for details.Packaging was really pleasant to open and use - everything is package neatly and includes everything you may need for installation.Screen is very nice! In fact the kid said she is going to use it as backup camera since her first car doesn't have it.Cons:It took me a while to understand how to mount suction cup. Hint: twist it!Blue light on charger is very bright at night - solved with a piece of duct tape.

I have 3 cars, and this is now my 9th dash cam. I started with a battery based cam in each car. And they did not make it through the summer, so my next 6 have been capacitor based. And all of them have lasted until I upgraded. This is my 3rd front/rear cam. And it is the best one. The camera quality is really good. The video I posted is from about 5 feet away, and you can clearly read the text, that is tiny. I didn't want to post someone's license plate, but I can tell you that license plates are clear from a longer distance compared to any of the other cams I've had. It even includes a pry tool that makes running the long cable a lot easier. The menu is fast too. I can't find anything wrong with it after a week. I will update the review if that changes, but this one feels like a solid cam.
Vic Kitchai
I like this 4K Dashcam that come with front and back option. This will be good for the road trip.
C. Abe
I would have given this camera 4 stars due to so-so night time capture, but it’s sufficient. At 2K with 256GB you can record 12-15 hours, so it does require a large storage. The reason I’m giving this a 5 star rating is because the day time HD quality helped catch a hit and run accident runner. I was able to do a 500x zoom ratio using video enhancing tool to help catch a hit and run suspect. I was able to use the clip and send it to my insurer to prove that it was a hit and run and not increase my insurance rate comes renewal.

This is my third dashcam and I'm very happy with it. First camera was front only, then I upgraded to front/back, and now I have installed this front/back unit in my wife's car.The front camera can shoot in full 4k, which is probably overkill, but nice to have. I've uploaded a sample video with some night and day shots (I overlaid the rear-camera using some dashcam viewer software--each feed is recorded as its own independent file). As you can see, the colors are very vibrant and crisp compared to my prior cameras. In the full uncompressed videos, license plates are legible at a reasonable distance. The front camera has an adjustable mount that easily hides away behind my rear-view mirror. The rear camera is a svelte little tube that takes up very little space and doesn't obstruct your view. The user interface on this camera is the best of the 3 I have owned. Everything is clearly laid out and easy to browse. There is also a phone app that lets you see a live feed and browse recordings over a WiFi connection. This actually works at a decent speed and would be useful if you ever need to immediately preserve/send a video in case of an incident. Also, this may seem to be a minor point, but a big factor in opting for this camera is that it uses USB-C for both the main camera connection and the link between front and rear camera. I've been trying to swear off buying any new electronics that use outdated micro-usb (or even worse: mini-USB) connectors and it is nice to see a company going the extra mile to use USB-C.

I see constant freeze frames for minutes at a time the rebooting a common issue. I drive 42 miles one way and get 2 freezes and at least one reboot in that time. I know I am hooked up to a good power supply as it even has a voltmeter on the same circuit that I check each time an issue pops up.

I received this for Christmas 2022 this is better than I thought. Now using the x4s duo for a month .The rear camera is good it picks up all the details and very clear. You can get into the settings and adjust the resolution and exposure to your liking. The default us 0.0 I changed to 0.3 gave me just what I needed . The front cam gives you all details and when using the App you have a larger screen. While using the app, you can set all settings , veiw your folders. This is very handy ,just incase you needed proof, Of a accident you can Show it right on the Spot with the App. This is a great dash cam !

Been searching for a dash cam for some time now. Glad I waited and found this one. Picture quality is amazing. easy to hide the wires. Very user friendly! You won’t be disappointed.

Really liking the camera so far, very easy set up. Picture quality is real good and the screen size is just right for a dash cam. The suction mount with the power cord is awesome, but it would be nice to be able to adjust camera a little more. Some "how-to" videos on the web site would be nice as well, but over-all a great dash cam!

Big shout out to @vantrue_official Been testing out the new X4S duo The screen is noticeably bigger then my previous n2, it makes going through the settings and videos way easier..although this one doesn’t have a interior camera built in I decided to put the rear facing camera on the inside so I still get the same effect. With my rear tire bing in the back my mounting options weren’t the best so happy I’m still able to get the inside recordings I’m used to. My favorite feature is the wifi which can connect to your phone seeing what the camera sees Also downloading videos and pictures is super simple with this feature.. no more need to have to plug it in to a computer to get all the footage! You still can if you’d like but for I using my phone 90% of the time so it’s perfect for me. Anyways I Definitely recommend this camera over my previous version, it’s so easy and comfortable to use. Personally I use my dash cam for more then just security.. i recored a lot the trails I do which a lot of you know the quality of the video is super crisp even at night, I tend to capture a lot of cool moments out there. There are gps add ons you can do for pretty inexpensive so it’ll record your speed and specific location, probably going to be adding that on pretty soon..

Item arrived as described and does seem to work well with my 128GB Sandisk Max Endurance Memory Card after formatting. No problems at this point, but if any arise, I will update this review. The included suction cup mount wouldn't stick to my windshield, so I opted for an adhesive mount. Perhaps your windshield will be more compliant.
